Day 1 & 2: Dublin
Let’s start in the capital. Dublin has that perfect mix of buzzing city life and cozy charm.
Short overview:
Vibe check: young, lively, with pubs literally everywhere. Weather warning: bring an umbrella. Always. Even if the sky is blue. (Especially if the sky is blue.)
Free things to do in Dublin:
- free walking tour
- national museums (most of them are free!)
- a classic pub crawl. (Temple Bar is overrated, but you kinda have to see it once.)
Dublin Budget Tip: supermarket meal deals — cheap, quick, and you’ll save money for Guinness.
Where to stay in Dublin: hostels if you’re on a budget, boutique hotels if you want more comfort. Dublin can get pricey, so book early.
Day 3: Rock of Cashel
Time to leave the city buzz behind and get a taste of Ireland’s medieval side.
Book a guided tour: it’s the best way to soak in all the history behind these castle ruins.
Walk around the area: the views from the ground (with cows casually hanging out in the fields) are just as amazing as the ruins themselves.
Where to stay & eat: stay local, eat local. Irish stews taste better when you’ve got a castle in sight.
Day 4: Limerick & the Countryside
On your way west, stop by Limerick. The town is small but has its charm, and the surrounding countryside is what Ireland is all about. Rolling green hills, quiet little roads, and sheep that look like they own the place. 🐑
What to do in Limerick: wander around King John’s Castle, grab a coffee by the river, and enjoy the slower pace.
Tip: this day is a bit more chill — perfect to recover from Dublin nightlife and save energy for the next highlights.
Day 5: Galway
Galway is basically Dublin’s artsy, laid-back cousin. And it’s a vibe.
Vibe check: colorful streets, street performers, and music everywhere. Seriously, even the buskers sound like they should be on Spotify. What to do: stroll through the Latin Quarter, grab fish & chips, and if you’re lucky — catch some live traditional Irish music in a pub. Budget tip: Galway has great food markets — cheap eats and fresh produce.
Day 6: Aran Islands & Cliffs of Moher
This is the day. Honestly, if you only do one big trip in Ireland, let it be this one.
Hop on the ferry: it takes you first to the Aran Islands. Rent a bike (non-negotiable!) and explore at your own pace. Expect ancient stone walls, postcard views, and yes — seals chilling by the shore like true locals. 🦭 Ferry to the Cliffs of Moher: after the islands, the same ferry drops you at Ireland’s most famous cliffs. Seeing them from the water first? Game-changer. Way less crowded, way more dramatic. The catch: the ferry can get… “rocky.” Seasick folks, consider medication. Or at least don’t sit next to the guy already holding the paper bag. 🤢 Reward: two bucket-list spots, one epic day. You’ll sleep like a baby after this.
Pro Tip for an extra Day: Cork
If you’ve got one more day, head down to Cork. It’s the gateway for dolphin and whale tours — and seeing these giants in the wild? Pure magic. 🐬🐋
✨ That’s it — your one-week Ireland itinerary. A mix of city, culture, countryside, and nature, with just enough Guinness and live music sprinkled in
